what sets NYCxDESIGN awards 2024 apart from previous years?

In an effort to showcase the richness of design talent and the diversity of our community, we’ve expanded eligibility to encompass not just Manhattan and its boroughs, but the greater state of New York, as well as New Jersey, and Connecticut. We want to celebrate and emphasize how local communities contribute to the vibrant tapestry that is New York City design.

Welcome to NYCxDESIGN Awards: Beyond the Boroughs!

what is the cost to enter?

Early birds can take advantage of our special pricing at $225 per entry until March 8th. After that date, the regular submission price is $250 per entry.


Emerging/independent designers and the Made in the Boroughs categories are a reduced fee of $75 per entry.


For an additional $50 per entry, product submitters can choose to include their submission in the People’s Choice category.

 

Student product submissions are free.

what products are eligible?

Your product or collection is eligible if it fulfills any of the below criteria:

  • Your product is sold, shown, or manufactured in any showrooms, design centers, studios, or temporary installations in the Tri-state area (New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut) between May 2023 and May 2024.
  • Your product will be shown at the 2024 NYCxDESIGN: The Festival affiliated events or shows (ICFFWantedDesign).
  • ICONIC PRODUCT (only) – Your product was sold, manufactured, or shown in the Tris-tate area or exhibited at NYCxDESIGN affiliated shows or events prior to May 2021.

what projects are eligible?

Your project is eligible if it fulfills any of the below criteria:

  • Your project is located in the Tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) and was completed between May 2023 and May 2024. 
  • ON THE BOARDS (only) – Your project is currently in the construction phase but not yet complete.
  • ICONC PROJECT (only) – Your project is located in the Tristate area New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut) and was completed prior to May 2021.

what student product designs are eligible?

To be eligible, students must be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate or undergraduate program (will accept Fall 2023 graduates). Students do not need to be New York-based.

Products must be launched or exhibited either in conjunction with a class/course or a show in the 2023-2024 academic year (Fall 2023 through Spring 2024).

Products must be a built prototype or sample with supporting photography.

Eligible product designs include but are not limited to, accessories, architectural products, fabric, furniture, kitchen & bath, lighting, and wall covering.

The submission fee for the student product design category is FREE.

who is eligible for the emerging/independent designer category?

Eligibility includes showing or selling products in the Tristate area between May 2023 and May 2024, having a business aged 0-5 years, and annual revenue less than $500,000 in 2022 and/or 2023.

how does the people's choice work?

Product submissions may opt-in to People's Choice, a public voting period on nycxdesignawards.com from April 15-26, 2024, for an additional $50 per entry.

Winner of People's Choice will receive a special digital seal to share across their social media and marketing assets.

what are the iconic product and project categories?

The ICONIC PRODUCT category is open to any products sold, manufactured, or shown in the Tris-tate area or exhibited at NYCxDESIGN affiliated shows or events prior to May 2023.

THE ICONIC PROJECT category is open to any projects located in the Tri-state area (New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut) and was completed prior to May 2021.

what information will i need to enter?

To submit a PRODUCT entry, you will be asked for the following information:

  • your contact information
  • product/category name and description
  • product/collection introduction date
  • manufacturer/brand information
  • 1-5 high-resolution product images
  • link to product video (optional)

To submit a PROJECT entry, you will be asked for the following information:

  • your contact information
  • official project name, location, and description
  • project press release/documentation 
  • size and cost per sq. ft. (cost will not be published)
  • project completion date
  • design firm information
  • 8-10 high-resolution project images 
  • link to project/walkthrough video (optional)

To submit a STUDENT PRODUCT entry, you will be asked for the following information:

  • your contact information
  • school information
  • product/category name and description
  • 1-5 high-resolution product images
  • product documentation (optional)

what categories are available this year?

Please note that categories may be renamed, consolidated, or eliminated and entries may be reassigned at the editors' discretion during judging.

when is the submission deadline?

The submission deadline for the NYCxDESIGN Awards is 11:59 PM ET on April 5, 2024.

All materials for submission must be provided by the deadline. Submissions that do not follow specifications will be disqualified without notice or refund.

is there a limit to how many entries i can submit?

No, there is no limit to the number of entries. Each entry can be submitted to one category at a time, with the option to duplicate entries if needed.

If you would like to duplicate an entry that has already been submitted, you can go to your completed entries under "My Account" and click "Copy".

can i start my entry and then return to it later?

Yes, you can begin your entry, save, and revisit it at any time. Access your in-progress entries under "My Account."

To access your in-progress entries, go to the "my account" link on the top right-hand side of the page. You will find a menu on the left with "My Entries".

can i duplicate an entry?

Yes. If you would like to copy over information from one entry to a new entry you may use the checkbox on the last page of the entry form.

You may then make changes to the entry copy or enter the same submission to additional categories.

can i edit or change my entry once it has been submitted?

Yes, you can edit your submission until the deadline on March 27, 2024.  

Log in to your account, to see all completed and in-progress entries.


judging

how are entries selected?

Entries will be judged by a panel of design leaders. Results are then reviewed by an Interior Design editorial panel led by editor-in-chief Cindy Allen.

when will the people's choice voting take place?

Visit the online gallery between April 15 - 26, 2024 on nycxdesignawards.com to vote!

how will i know if i am a finalist?

Finalists will receive an email by the end of the day on  May 10th. A complete list will be posted on nycxdesignawards.com shortly thereafter.

how will i know if i've won?

Winners will be announced during the ceremony hosted by Cindy Allen in New York City and livestreamed on DESIGNTV by SANDOW. Winners will also receive a congratulatory email.

what do i get if i win?

  • Honored during a ceremony hosted by Cindy Allen
  • Custom award
  • Featured in Interior Design magazine (projects only)
  • Featured in an online gallery on interiordesign.net and nycxdesign.com
  • All winners will be included in a categorized announcement shared to Interior Design’s Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Official digital assets and seals for use on all marketing materials
  • Opportunities to be featured on Interior Design's social channels throughout 2024
